Beverly and Forbes Earn Conference Honors in Outdoor Track & Field

PHILADELPHIA (March 28, 2001) - Temple's Naomi Beverly and Jason Forbes

received top honors this week from the Atlantic 10 Conference after competing

in the Quaker Invitational at the University of Pennsylvania this past

Saturday, March 24.

Beverly (Marietta, Ga./Marietta) was chosen as the women's performer of the

week after placing first in the 200m dash with a time of 25.28, the best in

the Atlantic 10. She also finished second in the 100m dash with a time of

12.47, making her third in the conference. Beverly is a sophomore majoring in

Broadcasting, Telecommunications and Mass Media.

Forbes (Philadelphia, Pa./Newark) was named the men's rookie of the week after

winning the triple jump with a distance of 46'7." He also finished second in

the long jump (22'3/4"). Both marks rank him first in the conference this

season. This is the second time this year that Forbes earned rookie of the

week. He first received this honor on February 5 for placing first at the

Delaware Invitational in the triple jump in indoor competition (46'4 3/4").

Forbes is a freshman majoring in Computer Information Sciences.
