Golf Team Stands Third After First Round Of A-10 Championship

FAYETTEVILLE, Pa. - After one round of play in the Verizon Atlantic 10 Conference Men's Golf Championship at the Penn National Golf Club, Coach John MacDonald's Temple Owls stand third among a 10-team field.
The Owls carded a first-round total of 294 to trail leader Xavier (279) and defending-champion Rhode Island (286). Senior Chris Bartolacci and freshman James Chan each finished with even-par rounds of 72 to lead the Owls and tie with three other players for sixth place in the individual scoring. Junior Sean McCafferty was just one stroke back at 73 (11th tie), while senior Mark Watt shot 77 (26th tie) to complete the Temple scoring. Freshman fifth-man Robert Whiting finished at 80 (38th tie).
Second round competition is scheduled for Saturday, followed by final round action on Sunday.
