Temple opened the season with a win over Ursinus College (179.35-178.80) .The Owls were 5-7 on February 9th and went win less the rest of the season, mostly due to injuries to key gymnasts.
Under head coach Ken Anderson Temple ended the season with a 5-17 record and placed fourth in the Atlantic 10 Championship. The injuries started in the preseason with season ending injuries to senior co-captain Heidi Hendrickson (medical leave) and freshman Amy Pinkerton was loss to a knee injury (ACL).
The injury bug throughout the season continually bit the Owls. Senior co-captain Danielle Corbin was loss for the season on March 13 (dislocated elbow), junior Cathy Patton (knee injury ACL) and Jennifer Beaver (shoulder surgery) were all loss for the season or parts of the season. Combined with the preseason injuries this season was an uphill battle.
However, there were some bright spots for the Owls head coach Ken Anderson newcomers Cicely Warrington and Paige Ozaroski performed admirably throughout the season. Warrington a junior competing in her first season of collegiate action, was named Atlantic 10 gymnasts of the week twice (January 15 and March 1). Also Warrington was ranked 5th in the all around (37.01) and 6th regionally in the floor exercise averaging (9.66). Freshmen Paige Ozaroski was named conference rookie of the week (February 5th). Ozaroski had a team high regional ranking of 14th on the balance beam and uneven bars. Junior Maggie Tolerico recovered from a slow start to post a team high average in the all around (37.4) ranking 6th regionally.
Overall the team average 183.923 per meet. They performed better than expected on the balance beam averaging (46.83), on the vault averaging 45.95, on the uneven bars 44.76, on the floor exercise 47.152 and in the all around 47.15.
