PHILADELPHIA - Temple's outdoor track and field teams were honored this week
with graduate student Rob Lythgoe and sophomores Robert Leite-Young and Naomi
Beverly receiving top honors from the Atlantic 10 Conference after competing
this past Saturday, April 21. This is the fourth time this season that the
Owls have received honors from the conference.
Robert Lythgoe was named men's Performer of the Week after posting the fastest
mark in the conference at the Widener Invitational. He completed the
1,500-meters run with a time of 3:46.85, making it a IC4A-qualifing time.
This is the second time this year that Lythgoe has been chosen as performer of
the week. He first earned this honor on December 13 for winning the mile run
at the Princeton Invitational during indoor competition (4:16.76).
Naomi Beverly earned women's Performer of the Week after winning the 100
meters (12.10) and 200 meters (24.79) at the Towson University Invitational.
Beverly was also part of the 4x100m relay team that finished first with a time
of 47.23. All of these marks are ECAC-qualifying times. This is her second
Performer of the Week honor. The first occurred on March 24 at the Quaker
Invitational when she placed first in the 200 meters (25.28) and second in the
100 meters (12.47).
Robert Leite-Young was chosen as men's Rookie of the Week after winning both
the triple jump (43-7.75) and long jump (20-10) events at the Towson
University Invitational. These distances register the fourth and eight best
marks in the conference. This is his first Rookie of the Week honor.
