In the 30th and final season under the direction of head coach John MacDonald, the Owls rallied to play their best golf of the campaign at the Atlantic 10 Conference Championships, finishing third among a field of 10 ... It was Temple's best finish in the conference championship since 1996 ... A member of the Temple Athletic Hall of Fame, MacDonald announced in February that he would step down from the head coaching position at the close of the 2001 season ... In a six-event fall campaign, the Owls showed promise with a second-place finish among 10 teams at Delaware's Bulle Rocke Invitational and a tie for fourth among 15 teams at the Rehoboth Beach Invitational ... Senior Chris Bartolacci was the Owls' top player, finishing as the medalist champion at Bulle Rocke and averaging a team-low 75.2 strokes per round ... In the seven-event spring season, Temple's best outing was at the A-10 Championships, where freshman James Chan led the way with a sixth-place individual finish, carding a three-round total of 215 (72, 70, 73).
