PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple University women's basketball team (9-6, 4-0 A-10) extended it's winning streak to six games and remained undefeated in the Atlantic 10 with a 77-59 victory over the Duquesne Dukes (7-8, 2-2 A-10) on January 13 at the Liacouras Center. The Owls led for all but 17 seconds in the first half and held a 40-26 advantage at halftime. In the second stanza, Temple broke the game open, leading by as many as 25 down the stretch. Temple forced 25 Duquesne turnovers while committing 14. The Owls also won the steals battle 15-8. In a game where 52 personal fouls were called, the Owls shot 72 percent from the free throw line.

Leading the way for the Owls was senior Regan Apo who scored 14 points and was the only Temple player to score in double figures. Senior forward Athena Christoforakis led all rebounders with nine boards and contributed eight points while center Lisa Jakubowicz added nine points and tied fellow Owl Chrissy Cruz (eight points) for most steals with four. Senior Natalia Isaac also scored eight points, all from the free throw line where she was 8-8.

Beth Friday led the Dukes with 14 points and five rebounds. Tionda Jennings (11 points, three rebounds) was the only other Duquesne player to score in double figures.

Next up for the Owls is a road trip to George Washington (Friday, January 18 at 7:00 p.m.) and St. Bonaventure (Sunday, January 20 at 12:00 noon).
