MEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO GEORGE WASHINGTON 3-0

Washington, D.C. -- The Temple University men's soccer team (5-10, 2-5 A-10) was shutout by George Washington 3-0 this afternoon, October 20, 2002. The Owls, under the direction of three year Head Coach David MacWillians, dropped to 2-5 in the Atlantic 10 standings.

The Colonials were on the board early when Matt Osborne scored on a corner kick in the fifth minute of period one. In period two, G.W.'s Kirk Lewis shot the ball past Owls goalie Pat Hannigan. Six minutes later, Michael Goldman scored the team's third goal of the game on a long shot past a diving Temple goalie. The Cherry and White had three corner kicks and 12 shots but were unable to capitalize and score.

Temple goalie Pat Hannigan played all ninety minutes in goal and contributed six saves.

The Owls return home next weekend where they will take on Massachusetts (10/25) and Rhode Island (10/27). Game times are 3:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. at Temple Stadiums.
