MEN'S SOCCER DEFEATS FORDHAM 2-1

PHILADELPHIA -- Sophomore forward Steven Wacker helped the Owls (4-6, 1-1 A-10) improve their Atlantic 10 record to 1-1 when he scored the game winning goal this afternoon, October 4, 2002 to lift the Owls over the Rams 2-1.

Neither team's offense came alive till the second period when Fordham's Richard Engel scored on a shot over the head of Owls goalie Patrick Hannigan. Twelve minutes later, Temple evened the score at 1-1 on a direct shot to the back of the net by freshman forward Tony Donatelli. In the 84th minute, Wacker had a 20 yard shot through traffice to find the back of the net and the win for Temple.

Hannigan posted five saves and Rams goalie Nathaniel Freihaut contributed eight saves.

The Owls return to Philadelphia to face crosstown rival La Salle on Sunday, October 6, 2002 at La Salle. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
