CINCINNATI--The Temple University men's soccer team (6-12-1, 3-7-1 A-10) played the Xavier Musketeers to a 1-1 double overtime tie this afternoon, November 3, 2002. The game was the Atlantic 10 conference finale for the Owls who finished 3-7-1 in A-10 play.

The Cherry and White was on the board first when junior Matt Moran caught a pass from freshman Tony Donatelli and shot the ball to the near post, giving the Owls a 1-0 halftime advantage. In the 61st minute of period two, Xavier's Chris Wolever tied the game on a low shot past Owls goalie Patrick Hannigan.

With less than a minute left in regulation play, Xavier almost broke the 1-1 tie with a 15 yard shot just inside the post. However, Temple defender Kyle Haywood stopped the ball and booted it away from the goal and preserving the 1-1 tie. Neither team could capitalize on any scoring opportunities in overtime and the game remained a tie.

Hannigan, played all 110 minutes as the Owls netminder and posted 10 saves. Xavier goalie Brian Schaeper contributed three saves.

The Owls travel to Virginia to take on the University of Virginia this week, Friday, November 8 for their final game of the season.
