OWLS WOMEN FINISH OHIO ROAD TRIP WITH AN "X" CLAMATION POINT

The Temple women's basketball team (14-9, 9-3) won a tough road game at Xavier (9-15, 4-8) 60-52 on February 10. The Owls earned the victory despite the fact that their leading scorer Natalia Isaac failed to score a single point for the first time this season. Temple held a 26-23 halftime advantage and pushed its lead to as many as 12 points in the second half. Xavier closed the gap to two points with just over five minutes remaining but the Owls maintained their poise and the lead down the stretch to seal the victory. Temple used its trademark pressure defense to force 25 Musketeer turnovers while winning the steals battle 11-7. The Owls also outrebounded Xavier 40-34.
Junior guard Regan Apo led a balanced Temple offense with 12 points. Apo also had two assists and three steals. Athena Christoforakis (11), Ari Moore, (11), Lisa Jakubowicz (10) and Stacey Smalls (10) were the other double figure scorers for the Owls. Moore led Temple in rebounding with seven boards. Christoforakis (six) and Jakubowicz (six) also helped out on the glass.
Amy Waugh led Xavier with game-highs of 20 points and nine rebounds. Reetta Piipari (14) and Kate Kreager (11) were the other doub1e-figure scorers for the Musketeers
Next up for Temple, a return home to face Massachusetts on Friday, February 15. Tip-off is at 7:00 p.m.
