The Temple University women's gymnastics team earned a 192.100-190.500 dual meet victory over Massachusetts in Amherst, Mass. on February 23, 2002. The 192.100 score sets a new team record for the Owls. Temple swept three of four events en route to their first win over the Minutewomen since 1992. The last time Temple has outscored UMass in competition was at the 1992 Atlantic 10 Championships.

The Owls won the vault with a 47.750 score, placed first on bars with a record-setting 48.100 team effort and won the beam with a 48.275 score.

Individually for Temple, true freshman Erin Davis posted the meet's best score on beam with a 9.800 showing. Fellow true freshman Alexis Zafferis won the vault with a 9.700 score. Sophomore Paige Ozaroski posted a school record 9.850 on bars to tie for first place in the event.

The top all-around score of the competition belonged to Temple senior Cicely Warrington, who bested all competitors with a 38.300 effort.

Temple, under the direction of 17th-year head coach Ken Anderson, returns to action next Saturday, March 2, in a 2 p.m. tri-meet at McGonigle Hall featuring Rhode Island and Towson.
