WOMEN'S TRACK WINS BIG AT A-10 CHAMPIONSHIPS; PORTER, ADENIYI RECEIVE TOP HONORS

KINGSTON, R.I.--The Temple University women's track team fourth place with 114 points at the 2002 Atlantic 10 Conference Championships held this past weekend, May 3 and 4 in Kingston, Rhode Island. Sophomore Samantha Porter was named Most Outstanding Track Performer after winning the 200 and 400 meters dash with times of 24.77 and 56.66 respectively. Freshman Aderonke Adeniyi garnered Outstanding Rookie Honors after winning the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.20.

Other top performers in the meet included junior Ruby Amanze who placed fourth in the 800 meter dash with a time of 2:16.35 and freshman Rachel Clinton and Jessica Dunston placed first and second respectively with times of 14.10 and 14.29 in the 100 meter hurdles. In the 400 meter hurdles, Dunston placed fourth with a time of 1:04.05. In jumps, freshman Ashley Holiday took fourth place with a distance of 5.42 meters while senior Edith Lewis finished sixth with a distance of 11.62 meters.

Temple's relays teams brought home first place finishes in two of their three races including the 4X 100 with a time of 47.24 and the 4X400 with a time of 3:50.70. In the 4X800, the Owls finished in seventh place with a time of 9:34.64.

After the championships, the following Owls were named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Team:
