Women's Track & Field Show Strong Effort at Penn Select Meet

PHILADELPHIA - Temple University's women's track & field team competed at the Penn Select Meet at the Ott Center this afternoon. The team competed against ten other schools. Inara Shell placed first in the triple jump among all collegiate athletes with a distance of 12.54m (41'-1.75"). 


Results
  • Sophomore Deja Scott set a new personal record after finishing tenth in the triple jump with a distance of 11.40m (37'-5"). She also placed 17th in the long jump with a distance of 5.13m (16'-10").
  • Aly Doyle placed eighth in the long jump with a distance of 5.53m (18'-1.75"). The freshman also set a new personal record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.80. She earned that time after finishing third out of eight in the finals. 
  • Emelie Beckman tied for second in the pole vault after registering a height of 3.77m (12'-4.5"). Reece Sullivan came in sixth in the pole vault with a height of 3.47m (11'-4.5"). Freshman Kamryn Ohm tied for ninth in the pole vault with a height of 3.32m (10'-10.75").
  • Smilla Ranebro was the only competitor in the high jump for the Owls. The freshman finished T-14th after reaching a height of 1.52m (4'-11.75"). 
  • Ta'Laiya Mellerson finished the 200m race with a time of 26.05, putting her in 16th out of 28 athletes. Lila Ziegler came across the line with a time of 26.35, setting a new personal record for the sophomore. Janae Pettaway also ran in the 200m and finished with a time of 26.51.
  • Freshman Kei-Mahri Hanna ran the 400m race with a time of 56.78, putting her in fifth place out of 35 athletes. Sophomore Grace Hickman set a new personal record in the 400m with a time of 58.76. Maliah Powell came across the line with a time of 1:03.92. 
  • Jayla Green was the only Temple athlete to run in the 800m dash and she finished with a time of 2:33.26. Marking a new personal record for the sophomore. 
  • Freshman Rian Johnson came in third among over 30 collegiate athletes in the mile with a time of 5:01.52. Rose Tuomisto finished right behind her with a time of 5:05.66. Reese Morgan was the other runner for the Owls and she came across the line with a time of 5:32.30. 
  • Tuomisto placed 11th out of 28th in the 3,000m race with a time of 10:26.44. Amelia Sabatino also competed in the race and finished with a time of 11:05.30. 
  • Temple's only 4x400m relay team was composed of Kei-Mahri Hanna, Grace Hickman, Rian Johnson, and Jayla Green. They placed fifth out of 12 teams with a time of 3:59.46.
