PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple University men's soccer team (3-6, 0-1 A-10) lost a tough game and their first Atlantic 10 match up of the season to the Saint Joseph's Hawks 2-1 this afternoon, September 28 at Temple Stadium.

The Owls were on the board early when junior Matt Moran caught a pass from freshman Tony Donatelli for a straight shot to the back of the net in the third minute of period one. Saint Joe's answered back seven minutes later when defender Scott Cunningham scored on a header into the goal, evening the score at 1-1.

The score remained tied until the last two minutes of regulation when the Hawks Matt Foster-Moore shot the ball past a diving Owls goalie, Patrick Hannigan, to secure the 2-1 win.

Temple was out-shot 21-10 but Hannigan guarded the net and notched 13 saves in 90 minutes of play.

The Owls continue Atlantic 10 play when they go on the road next week to face the Fordham Rams on Friday, October 4 and the La Salle Explores on Sunday, October 6. Game times are 3:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.
