WOMEN'S GYMNASTICS EDGES RUTGERS IN HOME OPENER

PHILADELPHIA-The Temple women's gymnastics team (2-5) defeated Rutgers (6-4; 0-2 EAGL) 191.950-191.875 on Thursday, Jan. 22 at McGonigle Hall. Temple senior Cicely Warrington led the Owls with two first-place finishes and a third place. Warrington placed first in the floor (9.725) and the beam (9.825). She also landed a third place finish in the vault setting a personal best (9.650).

The Owls edge the Scarlet Knights in the vault 47.925-47.775, the bars 47.825-47.750, and the floor 48.025-47.900. The only event Temple lost was the beam 48.450-48.175.

Junior Paige Ozaroski had two third place finishes. She also set a personal best on the beam (9.750) and scored a (9.650) on the bars. Sophomore Alexis Zafferis set a personal best winning the vault (9.750).

Temple will next travel to College Park, Maryland to face the University of Maryland on Saturday, January 25, 2003 at 7 p.m.
