WOMEN'S GYMNASTICS DEFEATED BY MARYLAND

COLLEGE PARK, MARYLAND -The Temple women's gymnastics team (2-6) was defeated 193.450-190.525 by Maryland (3-4) on Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Comcast Center. The Owls and Terps kept it close after the first two events, the vault and the bars. Temple's Alexis Zafferis recorded a team and meet high score on the vault. Co-Captain Brynne Hillman placed second on the bars with a 9.725 to keep it close for the Owls. At the end of the first two events Maryland held a slight 0.25 lead.

Maryland used its strongest event the floor to break away from Temple. The Terps Sarah Hoenig set the pace with a 9.90 and freshman Rachel Martinez posted a 9.825 to extend the Terps' lead.

Temple will close out the month with a dual meet against Ursinus on Friday, Jan. 31 at 6 p.m.
