WOMEN'S TRACK TAKES SECOND PLACE AT BUCKNELL OCTAGONAL

PHILADELPHIA -- With a final score of 102, the Temple University women's track and field team took second place at the Bucknell Octogonal this past weekend, January 25, 2003 in Lewisburg Pennsylvania.

Junior Aderonke Adeniyi led the Owls to victory with two first place in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.28 and the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.76. Sophomore Rachel Clinton also brought home a first place finish in the 55 meter hurdles with at time of 8.26. Senior Edith Lewis took first place in the long jump with a distance of 5.66 meters and second place in the triple jump with a distance of 11.41 meters. Lewis also took sixth place in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.52.

In other action, sophomore Jaweia Campbell took second place in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.41 while junior Nicole Porter took fifth place in the 500 meter dash. In the 800 meter dash, sophomore Tanisha Shelton took second place with a time of 2:20.69 while freshman Aisha Raheem took sixth place with a time of 2:22.27. Freshman Tiffany Duncan took third place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 59.72 and senior Marirose Roach took third place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.95.

Next up for the Owls is the Penn State Invitational this coming weekend, January 31. The Cherry and White take on Atlantic 10 opponents the following weekend, February 8 at the Rhode Island Invitational.
