MATT MORAN NAMED SOCCER SEVEN PLAYER OF THE WEEK
10.13.03 | Men's Soccer
PHILADELPHIA - Senior forward Matt Moran capped his best weekend in a Temple uniform by being named the Philadelphia Soccer Seven Player of the Week for the week ending October 12. Moran helped lead Temple to wins over Atlantic 10 rivals Fordham (2-1, 10/10) and La Salle (3-0, 10/12). The wins improved Temple to 7-2-2 on the season, its best start since the 1993 Owl squad also opened with the same mark.
Moran, a native of Drexel Hill, Pa. (Monsignor Bonner), assisted on Temple's game-winning goal in the team's 2-1 win over Fordham. He then had what may well be the most electrifying 92 seconds in Owl men's soccer history. After a scoreless first half with A-10 and Soccer Seven rival La Salle, Moran scored two goals and assisted on a third in a 1:32 span early in the second half to propel Temple to a 3-0 win over the Explorers.
The Owls are now 3-0-1 in A-10 play after the opening two weekends and tied atop the conference standings with 10 points. Temple travels to St. Bonaventure and Duquesne this weekend.
