OWLS VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS INTO SOLE POSSESSION OF SECOND PLACE IN ATLANTIC 10

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple volleyball team defeated George Washington three games to none on October 17 at McGonigle Hall. With the win the Owls take over sole possession of second place in the Atlantic 10 Conference. The game scores were 30-22, 30-19 and 30-23.

Senior outside hitter Xu Yun led the Temple attack with a match-high 14 kills. Yun also had 13 digs for a double-double. Fellow senior Liu Shu (10 kills) was the only other Owl to post double-digit kill numbers. Junior setter Alison Runk posted a match-high 37 assists for Temple.

Sarah Hokom led George Washington and matched her uniform number with 13 kills. Hokom, who also had 14 digs for a double-double, was the lone Colonial to reach double figures in kills. Setter Lauren Dunning had 29 assists for George Washington.

As a team, Temple out-hit George Washington .254 to .081. The Owls also registered nine total team blocks while the Colonials had six.

Temple improved to 8-7 overall and 5-1 in conference play. George Washington fell to 15-4 overall and 4-2 in the Atlantic 10. The Owls will next host Duquesne on October 18 at McGonigle Hall. Match time is 4:00 p.m.
