OWLS SHOOT DOWN MUSKETEERS, 3-1 IN VOLLEYBALL

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple volleyball team extended its winning streak to seven matches with a three games to one victory over Xavier on October 30 at McGonigle Hall. The win was the Owls' 12th in their last 14 matches. The game scores were 30-17, 30-19, 27-30 and 30-18.

Senior outside hitter Yamit Haba led the Temple attack with 24 kills and 18 digs, both match-highs while hitting a sizzling .538. Fellow seniors Liu Shu (15 kills, 18 digs), Xu Yun (14 kills, 11 digs) and Charity Hill (13 kills, 10 digs) also posted double-doubles for the Owls. Senior Margaret Majewska added nine kills and 12 digs. Junior setter Alison Runk had a match-high 65 assists for Temple.

Kate Duchek led Xavier with 14 kills. Danielle Skrajewski (10 kills) was the only other Musketeer to reach double figures in kills. Setter Marisa Main had 37 assists for Xavier.

As a team, the Owls out-hit the Musketeers .371 to .190. Temple improves to 12-7 overall and 8-1 in conference play. Xavier falls to 8-14 and 2-6 in the A-10.

The Owls will next face conference leader Dayton in a Halloween matinee on October 31 at noon at McGonigle Hall. Temple will be looking to avenge its only conference loss of the season and with a win could pull into a first place tie with the Flyers.
