LONGTIME TEMPLE ADMINISTRATOR AL SHRIER INDUCTED INTO PHILADELPHIA JEWISH SPORTS HALL OF FAME

PHILADELPHIA - Al Shrier, who has been a part of the Temple University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics since 1953, was inducted into the Philadelphia Jewish Sports Hall of Fame at its Seventh Annual Induction Ceremony on Sunday evening, November 9.

Shrier, a 1953 Temple graduate, is the most decorated collegiate public relations professional in the history of Philadelphia athletics. Besides his latest Hall of Fame enshrinement, Shrier is also a member of the Temple University, Philadelphia Big Five and College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Hall of Fames.

Now in his 51st year of working in the Temple Athletic Department, Shrier currently serves a special assistant to the director of athletics.

Besides Shrier, Temple also had three other alumns, basketball greats Mel Brodsky and Ed Lerner along with sports sculpture/artist Joe Brown, inducted in the 2003 class. Rounding out the class was longtime sportswriter Frank Dolson, women's sports pioneers Helen J. and Estelle Goldstein and olympic gold medal weightlifter Frank Spellman.
