2.15.03 | Women's Basketball
Stacey Smalls led the way for the Owls with 17 points and a career-high nine rebounds. Ari Moore pitched in with 14 points and a career-high seven steals, which tied Smalls for the highest output by an Owl this season. Cynthia Jordan rounded out the scoring leaders with 12 points.
Cyndi Stull recorded a double-double for Dayton, tallying 16 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Chrissy Donovan added 11 points in the losing effort.
Dayton jumped out to an early 8-3 lead at the 14:34 mark, but that would be the largest scoring gap for the remainder of the half. The lead changed hands nine times in the first period alone. The game was knotted at 25-25 at halftime.
Both teams played evenly for the first 10 minutes of the second stanza, as well. A Sara Schloss three-point basket with 9:27 to play gave the Flyers a 41-39 lead. That would prove to be Dayton's final time holding the advantage, as Temple responded with a 13-1 run. The Flyers would not come within five points of the Owls for the rest of the game, which saw a total of 14 lead changes and eight ties.
Up next for Temple is an Atlantic Ten match-up with Duquesne on Thursday, February 20. Tip-off is set for 7:05 p.m. in Pittsburgh.
