JONES FUELS WOMEN'S BASKETBALL WIN OVER LA SALLE

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's basketball team (8-13, 4-6 A-10) topped La Salle (12-10, 4-7 A-10) 67-63 on Sunday, February 9 at Tom Gola Arena. With the win the Owls close out the Philadelphia Big 5 schedule with a 2-2 record. Temple also moved into a tie for second place in the Atlantic 10 East.

Junior Lorenthea Jones led the Owls with a career-high 27 points and tied a career-high with eight rebounds. Junior Christena Hamilton (15) and senior Stacey Smalls (10) also scored in double figures for Temple. Junior Tynecia Pam and senior Chrissy Cruz led the Owls in rebounding with nine boards apiece. Hamilton added team-highs of three assists and two steals to her stat line.

Jill Marano led La Salle with 18 points. Kat Foley (11) was the only other Explorer to score in double figures.

Temple was huge on the boards as it out-rebounded La Salle 41-29. The Owls held a slight edge in steals (7-4) and feasted from the free throw line (TU 15-17, LU 11-17).

Temple returns home to face Xavier on Thursday, February 13. Tip-off is at 7:00 p.m.
