ADENIYI NAMED ATLANTIC 10 INDOOR TRACK STUDENT ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

PHILADELPHIA -- Aderonke Adeniyi (Oyo State, Nigeria/The British School of the Netherlands) was named Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Student-Athlete of the Year it was announced today, April 2, 2003 by the Atlantic 10 Conference. Sophomore Rachel Clinton and junior Samantha Porter join Adeniyi on the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference Team.
At the A-10 Indoor Championships in February, Adeniyi was the gold medalist in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.34 and placed third in the 55 meter dash with a time of 7.05. A junior biochemistry major with a 3.80 GPA, Adeniyi was also named the Most Outstanding Rookie Performer at the 2002 Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships.
Clinton, a sophomore from Columbia, Maryland was the gold medalist at the 2003 Atlantic 10 Championships in the 55- meter dash with a season best conference time of 8.08. Currently, she holds the second fastest time in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.37 and has qualified for the ECAC Championships in May.
Porter, a junior from Charlotte, North Carolina held the fastest time during the indoor season in the 400-meter run with a time of 58.13. Porter was also named the Most Outstanding Performer at the 2002 A-10 Outdoor Championships. She is a political science and German major with a 3.80 GPA.
