JAMES CHAN NAMED A-10 GOLF STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

Temple University junior James Chan (Ancaster, Ontario/Ancaster High School) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Student-Athlete of the Year in men's golf, in voting conducted among the league's Sports Information Directors.

Chan maintains a 3.70 cumulative grade point average in business administration. He has been cited on Temple's Dean's List, as well as its Athletic Director's Honor Roll.

Temple's team captain, Chan participated in all four tournaments in which the Owls competed this Spring, playing 11 rounds with 843 total strokes. Chan placed fourth at the 2003 Atlantic 10 Championship with a three-round score of 222. He also finished tied for fifth at the Rutherford Intercollegiate with a three-round 203 that consisted of two rounds under par at the Penn State Blue Course.

Chan has played in 34 tournaments during his career and has earned six top 10 finishes.

Joining Chan on the men's golf Academic All-Conference team are James Clarke of Rhode Island; George Washington's Brad Friedlander; A.J. Quinter of Dayton and St. Bonaventure's Jeff Tracy.
