MEN'S SOCCER DEFEATS BUFFALO, 3-1, TO UP ITS RECORD TO 2-0

Pittsburgh, Pa. -- For the second straight match Temple jumped out quickly on offense, taking a 3-0 lead en route to a 3-1 win over Buffalo at the Duquesne Classic on Saturday. The Owls, 2-0 on the season, finished second in the tournament as host Duquesne, also 2-0, won the title due to goal differential. The Dukes, a 3-2 winner over Cleveland State, had a plus five goal differential, one goal better than the Owls (+4).
Matt Maher, who had two assists in Temple's 3-1 win over Cleveland State on Friday, opened the scoring in the first half. Matt Morgan followed with his first goal of the season to give the Cherry and White a 2-0 lead at intermission.
Nate Webb, one of three Owls named to the all-tournament team, tallied his second goal of the season to put Temple up 3-0. Matthew O'Kopny spoiled TU goalkeeper Sean Thompson's shutout bid with a goal in the 84th minute. Thompson ended the match with four saves.
Joining Webb on the all-tournament team was teammates Joe Brocker and Chris Shelton.
Temple returns home to take on Long Island in its home opener at Temple Stadium on Friday afternoon (4:00 p.m.).
