PATRICK HANNIGAN NAMED SOCCER SEVEN C0-PLAYER OF THE WEEK

9.22.03 | Men's Soccer

PHILADELPHIA - Temple University senior goalkeeper Patrick Hannigan has been named the Philadelphia Soccer Seven co-Player of the Week for the week ending September 21. Hannigan shares the honor with Philadelphia University forward Frederick Douglas.

Hannigan was stellar in the net for the Owls this past week, stopping all 15 shots he faced in recording road shutouts over North Carolina State, a 1-0 win on September 17, and Villanova, a scoreless tie on September 20. In his first action since suffering a broken arm in the preseason, Hannigan made eight saves in Temple's win at NC State. He then followed that with seven saves at Villanova in the team's Soccer Seven opener.

The Philadelphia native helped Temple up its record to 4-1-1 on the season, the program's best start since 1997.

Temple next plays Soccer Seven rival Penn at Temple Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. Start time for the match is 3:30 p.m.
