9.5.03 | Men's Soccer
PHILADELPHIA - Senior forward Oskar Tilley tallied a natural hat trick and then assisted on the game's fourth goal to lead visiting Long Island to a 4-0 win over the Temple Owls at Temple Stadium. Tilley's performance spoiled the Owls home opener. Temple, which posted two straight wins to start the season for the first time since 1991, falls to 2-1 on the season while LIU ups its record to 1-1-1.
Tilley, a native of Karlstad, Sweden, scored the game's first goal on a penalty kick in the 21st minute. He followed that with a tally off an assist from teammate Casey Madigan (Washington Township, N.J.) in the 29th minute. Sophomore Jonas Stigh, a native of Trollhattan, Sweden, set up Tilley for his third score in the 60th minute of play. Sophomore Mustapha Ayoub then completed the scoring with a goal in the 67th minute off a feed from Tilley.
Senior goalkeeper Eric Masters recorded six saves in posting his first shutout of the season while Sean Thompson (six saves, four goals allowed) and freshman Steve Gelder (two saves) saw action in goal for the Owls.
