Webb put the Owls on the board in the 17th minute for his third goal of the season. The Owl foward took advantage of a misplay by Howard goalkeeper Jason Williams (nine saves) and finished into an open net. Webb then set up freshman forward Matt Maher on the second goal in the 37th minute of play to account for the scoring.
"A sign of a good team is how they come back from a loss," stated Temple head coach David MacWilliams on his team's rebound following a 4-0 loss to Long Island on Friday. "Our guys played well today. They were intense. I thought we had opportunities to score two or three more goals so we need to work a little more on finishing."
MacWilliams switched some things in the midfleid from Friday's loss, the team's lone defeat of the season. Freshman Ryan Heins moved to outside midfield while junior Steven Wacker and sophomore Anthony Donatelli moved to the center of the field.
"Those guys really did a great job," added MacWilliams. "They controlled the center of the field and I thought that really helped contribute to our success."
Temple, on the attack throughout the contest, out-shot Howard, 23-9. Owl goalkeeper Sean Thompson, who recorded his first career shutout, had to make only one save on the day. Temple junior Nick Burke came up with the defensive play of the day, blocking a shot off of a Bison corner kick that was heading into the left corner of the goal in the 36th minute of play.
The Owls now have a 10-day break before playing at North Carolina State on Wednesday, September 17. Howard falls to 1-3 on the season.
