WOMEN'S GYMNASTICS KICKS-OFF 2004 SEASON AT BRIDGEPORT
1.12.04 | Women's Gymnastics
In their first dual meet of the season, the Owls will look for leadership and consistent performances from their three USAG All-Americans. The Owls plan to dominate the balance beam event, as senior captain Jennifer Beaver, junior captain Erin Davis and senior Paige Ozaroski all earned their USAG All-American status on the beam at the 2003 USAG National Championships. Beaver adds the vault to her routine for the first time ever and will lead the all-around competition for the Owls. Davis, with a classical gymnastics style, has added a higher degree of difficulty into her tumbling passes this season making her a strong contender in the floor exercise and all-around competition. Ozaroski, who also earned USAG All-American honors on the uneven bars, will contribute significantly for the Owls on both bars and beam.
Although Bridgeport captured the 2003 ECAC Championship, Temple out-placed the Purple Knights at the 2003 USAG National Championships. As a team the Owls finished 4th in the final round of competition, while the Purple Knights placed 8th in the preliminary round. Prior to the USGA National Championships, Temple last met Bridgeport in the 2002 season and defeated the Purple Knights, 188.500 to 183.425.
