BRONX, NY - Tony Donatelli scored his second goal of the season with just under 10 minutes left in regulation to lift the Temple men's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Fordham on Edwards' Parade. With the A-10 weekend sweep, the Owls even their overall record to 6-6-2 while improving to 3-1-2 in conference play. Fordham drops to 3-8-2 and 1-3-2.
After a scoreless first half, Temple dominated play offensively in the second stanza, out-shooting Fordham, 8-1. The Owls finished the game with an 11-3 shot advantage.
Temple finally found the back of the net in the 81st minute when Donatelli took a return pass from sophomore Nick Ebersole and beat Fordham keeper Stephen Faber to the far post.
For Temple, Patrick Hannigan had two saves in recording his third shutout of the season. Senior Andy Watto contributed with a defensive save for the Owls in the first half. Faber had five saves in the loss.
The Owls return home for its final weekend at their new Ambler Field. Temple hosts Duquesne on October 22 at 3:30 p.m. and St. Bonaventure on October 24 at 1:00 p.m.
