MURRAY LEADS MEN'S TENNIS AT ITA REGIONALS

BLACKSBURG, VA -- Junior Yhonny Murray won three matches to advance from the qualifying draw all the way to the round of 64 before falling to Cornell's Josh Raff, 6-2, 6-2, at the ITA Regional Championships held at the Burrow-Burleson Tennis Center October 21-26.

Murray defeated Ignacio Roca of Virginia Tech, 6-3, 6-1 in his first singles match on Thursday morning (Oct, 21).  He then caught his breath and topped Justin McConkey of Niagara, 6-0, 6-1, two hours later to advance out of the qualifying draw.

On Friday morning, Murray came from behind to edge out Andrew Mott of Lafayette, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3, in the round of 128.  Raff then ended the Owl singles representative's run on Saturday morning.

Murray also teamed with senior Tyler Wynne in doubles, dropping a tightly-contested match to Andrew Lieu and Hans Plukas of Prindeton, 9-8 (7).
