SENIORS CELEBRATE THEIR DAY WITH 2-0 WIN OVER SBU IN MEN'S SOCCER

AMBLER, PA -- The Temple men's soccer team celebrated Senior Day Sunday afternoon at Ambler Field and each of the four Owl seniors had a hand in the team's 2-0 win over visiting St. Bonaventure. With the win, Temple completed an unbeaten season on its new field (3-0-1) and improved its record to 8-6-2 overall and 5-1-2 in Atlantic 10 play.  St. Bonaventure falls to 7-7-1, 3-5-0 in league competition.

After a scoreless first half, sophomore midfielder Ryan McMullan took a pass from senior Nate Webb and blasted a shot past freshman keeper Jonathan Blanchard to make it 1-0 Temple in the 60th minute.  Blanchard, who was filling in for an injured Sean Eyde, had six saves on the day.

Fitting the second goal of the day was a senior combo.  Webb headed home a perfect crossing pass from midfielder Steven Wacker in the 69th minute to provide the Owls with insurance.

The defense was led by the Cherry & White's remaining seniors, defender Andy Watto and goalkeeper Patrick Hannigan.  Watto was stellar on the defensive side of the ball in helping the Owls secure their second straight shutout.  Hannigan, who celebrated his 22nd birthday Saturday, made three saves, including a huge one on a breakaway by SBU's Kevin Omokhua with five minutes remaining in the first half.  It was Hannigan's 17th career shutout and fifth of this season.

Temple next travels south to take on George Washington (10/29) and Richmond (10/31) before concluding the regular season on November 6 at Saint Joseph's.
