YING SUN LING EARNS ATLANTIC 10 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

PHILADELPHIA - Temple freshman Ying Sun Ling was honored by the conference today as the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week after helping the Owls secure two A-10 victories. It is the first time in her career that she has been honored by the league.
The native of Shanghai, China posted 27 kills on the week, hitting .345 in wins over George Washington (3-1) and Duquesne (3-0). She posted her best match against the Dukes, recording 13 kills and 10 digs while hitting .435. For the week, Ying Sun Ling averaged 3.9 kills and 2.9 digs per game. She currently is third on the team in kills (2.12).
The Owls (11-14 overall, 8-1 A-10) have now won five straight Atlantic 10 matches and head to Ohio this weekend for a crucial conference road trip. On Friday, Temple travels to Xavier for a 7 p.m. match and visits Dayton on Saturday at 4 p.m. UD has clinched a playoff spot with a 9-1 record and hold a half-game lead over Temple. The Musketeers are a half-game back of TU with an 8-2 record.
