PHILADELPHIA -- Senior forward Ari Moore was honored as the Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday. The Shaker Heights, Ohio native averaged 13 points and eight rebounds per game during a week in which the Owls faced #1 Tennessee and #2 LSU within a span of five days. It is the first time in her career that she has been awarded the Big 5 Player of the Week.
Moore shot 14-for-33 from the field and 10-for-12 from the charity stripe as Temple went 1-2 on the week. She also averaged two assists and one steal per contest.
The co-captain began the week with an eight-point, eight-reboud performance in a 65-51 loss to then #2 LSU. She followed that outing with a 18-point (7-for-13 FG) showing in a 64-42 victory at East Tennessee State on Friday. She also grabbed seven boards and went 4-for-4 from the line against the Bucs.
Just two days later, Moore helped the Owls nearly pull off the biggest upset in program history at #1 Tennessee. The Lady Vols came out victorious, 52-48, despite 13 points and nine rebounds from Moore.
Moore is second on the team in both scoring (13.8 ppg.) and rebounding (8.3 rpg.). Temple hosts Morgan State at the Liacouras Center on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
