WOMEN'S BASKETBALL BLOWS BY ST. BONAVENTURE, 68-36
2.14.04 | Women's Basketball
Joining Hairston, who also grabbed a career-high eight rebounds and tied her career best with four assists, in double figures were sophomore center Candice Dupree and fellow freshman Britney Jordan with 11 points apiece.
Tory Vyborny led St. Bonaventure (7-16, 3-9 A-10) with 10 points and was the only Bonnies player in double figures. Becky Valenti was St. Bonaventure's top rebounder with seven boards. The Bonnies were without the services of their leading scorer, Stephanie Collins, who sat out due to an ankle injury.
As the final score would indicate, Temple dominated the stat sheet, holding the edge in nearly every category.
"We've had so many close games that this was a breath of fresh air for us," said coach Dawn Staley. "It was good for team morale because players who do not usually get to play a lot were able to get some minutes."
Next up for the Owls, an A-10 and Big Five showdown with city rival Saint Joseph's who is currently in second place in the A-10 East on Thursday, February 19. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
