2.22.04 | Women's Basketball
Joining Dupree, who also had team-highs of six rebounds and four assists, in double figures were junior guard Cynthia Jordan (15 points) and junior forward Ari Moore (10 points, six rebounds). Senior forward Toni Belafonte, a New York city native, added eight points and five rebounds in her homecoming.
Patricia Williams led Fordham (11-14, 4-10 A-10) with 18 points. Beth Ann Dickinson (13 points) and Monica Mack (10 points) also scored in double figures for the Rams. Kyshawn Ruff led Fordham in rebounding with a game-high nine boards.
It was "Senior Day" at Fordham and early on, it looked like the Rams were riding the emotion of the day to play inspired basketball. In fact, Fordham led by as many as 14 points in the first half before Temple cut the lead to 11, 38-27 at intermission.
In the second half, the Owls took over holding the Rams without a field goal for the first 9:26, while outscoring Fordham 13-1 over that span. The game remained close until Temple took the lead for good, 49-48 with 6:37 left on the clock. From there, it was mostly Owls, mostly Dupree, as Temple outscored Fordham 18-8 down the stretch to seal the win.
Temple will next play host to La Salle in its final home game of the season on Thursday, February 26 at the Liacouras Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
