TEMPLE FALLS AT LEHIGH, 6-1, IN MEN'S TENNIS OPENER

BETHLEHEM, PA -- The Temple University men's tennis team dropped its season opener at Lehigh on Saturday afternoon, 6-1. The Owls' lone win of the day came at #4 singles as senior James Logan defeated Jon Swanson, 7-5, 6-2.

Lehigh's Ty Esler defeated Tyler Wynne in first singles, 6-1, 6-1. He then teamed with Alfredo Fernandez-Concha at number two doubles for an 8-2 win over Elad Ziv and John Sy. The Mountain Hawks' Swanson and Randall Smalley teamed for a thrilling 9-8 (7-5 tie-breaker) win over Wynne and Yhonny Murray at #1 doubles. The Owls' number two singles player, Murray fell in a three-set match, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4, to Randall Smalley.

Logan and Matt Struble fell at third doubles, 8-5, to Lehigh freshmen Ryan Lloyd and Brad Nelson. Struble, Sy, and Ziv lost straight set singles matches at numbers three, five and six, respectively.

The Owls next take the court on Saturday, February 14 at Swarthmore.
