WOMEN'S GYMNASTICS TO HOST CORNELL IN FINAL MCGONIGLE MEET OF THE SEASON

PHILADELPHIA -- With sights set on earning its second consecutive USAG National Championship bid, the Temple women's gymnastics team hosts Cornell at McGonigle Hall in its final home meet of the season on Sunday, March 14 at 2:00 p.m. The Owls enter the meet 14-11, coming off a quad meet victory against Rhode Island, Ursinus and West Chester last weekend.

Temple will look for strong performances from junior vault specialist Alexis Zafferes and freshman Sarah Liebowitz. Instrumental in leading the vault team to a new all-time record (48.450) on February 8, 2004 in a quad meet at Penn, Zafferes owns a 9.825 career-high on the apparatus. Liebowitz, a rising star for the Owls, broke Temple's all-time uneven bars record last weekend by scoring a meet-high 9.90.

The meet marks the final appearance for seniors Jennifer Beaver and Paige Ozaroski at McGonigle Hall. Prior to the meet Temple will conduct a senior day ceremony to honor Beaver and Ozaroski for their dedication to the gymnastics program. Beaver competes primarily on beam and floor, while Ozaroski contributes on bars, beam and vault.
