TEMPLE GOLFERS IN 15TH PLACE AFTER FIRST ROUND OF WILLIAM & MARY INVITATIONAL

3.22.04 | Men's Golf

The Temple men's golf team, in its first official tournament of the spring season, is in 15th place out of 20 schools after the first round of the William & Mary Invitational played at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va. The tournament concludes Tuesday, March 23, at the par 71, 6,769-yard course.

Temple shot a 33-over par 317 in unseasonably cold weather with temperatures barely breaking 40 degrees all day on Monday. A stiff wind with gusts over 20 miles per hour also hampered shot-making.

Richmond is in the lead after day one with a 10-over par 294, four strokes ahead of second place Georgetown (298).

Junior Billy Mullen led the Owls on Monday with a five-over par 76 to place tied for 24th. Junior Matt Roberts was one stroke behind, shooting a 77 to find himself tied for 28th position. James Chan (82, T-79th), Patrick O'Neill (82, T-79th) and Logan Terry (83, T-86th) comprised the rest of the Cherry & White scorecard.
