TEMPLE GOLFERS FINISH TIED FOR 12TH AT WILLIAM & MARY INVITATIONAL

Junior Billy Mullen was the Cherry & White's top performer with a 153 (76-77) effort to place tied for 32nd. Fellow junior Patrick O'Neill finished strong, shooting a second-round 73 after a dissapointing 82 on Monday to finish tied for 43rd with a 155 total. James Chan (T-46th, 82-74=156), Matt Roberts (T-46th, 77-79=156) and Logan Terry (T-70th, 83-75=159) comprised the rest of the Cherry & White scorecard.
Georgetown, which trailed Richmond by four strokes after day one, shot a 291 on Tuesday to overtake the Spiders and win the event with a 21-over par 589 (298-291). Richmond (294-298=592) and Old Dominion (303-299=602) placed second and third, respectively.
The Owls provided the top finish among Philadelphia Big 5 entries, besting rivals Saint Joseph's and Villanova. The Hawks placed 19th with a 633(323-310) effort and the Wildcats finished 20th with a 657 (336-321) showing.
The individual crown went to Navy's Billy Hurley, who swung his way to a second round, five-under 66 to finish with a two-round, one-under par 141.
A total of 120 student-athletes competed in the tournament.
Temple returns to the links next weekend, March 27-28, at the George Washington Invitational played at Swan Point Country Club in Issue, Md.
