TEMPLE CREW DOMINATES MURPHY CUP RACES

The men's Varsity 4 'B' boat also took first place in a time of 6:47.2, beating Fordham by more than three seconds. The boat consisted of Mike Murray, Zach Ben-Dov, Logan Hoffman, Mike Shisler and Carmen Conicelli.
The Varsity 4 'C' boat fnished third with a time of 6:51.41. Jason Bohut, Dan Samarin, Andy Tobiason, Mike Stackhouse and Ryan Flood manned the 'C' boat.
In the men's 2nd Varsity 8 race, Temple again took first place in a time of 6:02. The boat consisted of Matt Godfrey, TJ Burke, Andy Mantzoukas, Pat McMahon, Jason Bohut, Brian Campbell, Mike McVeigh, Dan Samarin and Carmen Conicelli.
Rounding out the men's action, the freshman/novice 4 team beat Penn State by 11 second for first place in that event. Chris Bushek, Tim Lowry, Daunte Cammarata, Matt Hanlin and Garho Kametani made up the novice 4 boat.
In women's crew team action, Temple took second place in the women's Varsity Lightweight 4 event with a time of 7:50.12. The boat consisted of Jennica Tucker, Krystyna Rejrat, Emily Smith, Kelly Gross and Alexis Sakulich.
In the women's Varisty 4 race, the Temple 'A' boat finished third in a time of 7:37.0 and the 'B' boat finished sixth in a time of 7:52.0. Carrie Kelley, Megan Tuckey, Stef Kolle, Nicki Warrick and Lauren Guttilla were in the 'A' boat while Sarah Evancho, Lindsay Robidoux, Ulana Luciw, Stephanie Hanlin and Nikki Rodgers were in the 'B' boat.
Temple finished fifth in the women's freshman/novice 4 and women's freshman/novice 8 races with times of 8:58 and 7:28 respectively. The novice 4 boat consisted of Christina Spino, Lauren Park, Deana Speck, Nicole Watson and Diana Redington. Jennica Tucker, Lauren Fattori, Regina Rahill, Rachel Jordan, Leah Silverstein, Pia King, Nicole Toner, Amy Hagner and Dama Lewis were in the Novice 8 boat.
In the women's 2nd Varsity race, Temple finished fourth in a time of 7:15.7. Temple placed sixth in the Women's DI Varsity 8 race with a time of 6:53.79.
The Murphy Cup Regatta is an annual event held in honor of former Temple rower, John J. Murphy who rowed for Temple from 1979-1981 and led the Cherry and White to five consecutive Dad Vail Regatta titles. Tragically, in the summer of 1981, Murphy was killed in a hit and run accident. The regatta is held in his memory and has grown to become one of the premier collegiate events on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia.
Next weekend, April 3-4, the men's team will compete in the San Diego Crew Classic in San Diego, Calif. The women's team will next hit the water April 17-18 at the Knecht Cup in Colllingswood, NJ.
