ISSUE, MD - The Temple University golf team shot a two-round 604 (306-298) to finish third out of 24 universities at the George Washington Invitational, played Saturday and Sunday, March 27-28, at the par-72, 6,761-yard Swan Point Country Club. The Owls' second round 298 was the second-best round of the event and left the team just eight strokes shy of first place.

The host Colonials won the tournament with a 20-over par 596 (299-297) effort. Defending tournament champion Princeton finished second with a 599 (299-300) total.

Individually, junior Patrick O'Neill (77-74) and freshman Logan Terry (78-73) paced Temple with 151 scores to finish tied for 20th place. James Chan (72-82=154), Matt Roberts (79-77=156) and Billy Mullen (82-74=156) comprised the rest of the scorecard.

Lehigh's Nam-Kyu Park won the invitational with a six-under-par 138 (67-71) followed by George Washington sophomore Brian Carroll who carded an even-par 144 (71-73). Skidmore's Lee Lyon was third with a 146 (70-76).

The Cherry & White, under the leadership of third-year head coach Bill Mannino, returns to the links next weekend, April 3-4, at the Yale Spring Open in New Haven, Conn.
