STALEY NAMED 2004 ATLANTIC 10 WOMEN'S BASKETBALL COACH OF THE YEAR

PHILADELPHIA - Temple women's basketball coach was named Atlantic 10 Conference Coach of the Year on March 4. The award marked Staley's first A-10 Coach of the Year honor. The Owls, who were 18-9 overall this season, were 14-2 in conference play, tying George Washington for the top league record.

Sophomore center Candice Dupree was named second team all-conference and to the all-defensive team. Freshman Britney Jordan earned all-rookie team honors. Temple also accepted the team award for posting the top record in the A-10's East Division.

The Atlantic 10 Championships get underway on Friday, March 5 at Alumni Memorial Fieldhouse. The Owls have earned a first round bye and will play the winner of West number four Xavier and East number five Fordham on Saturday, March 6. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
