WOMEN'S GYMNASTICS TO HOST RHODE ISLAND, URSINUS AND WEST CHESTER

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's gymnastics returns to McGonigle Hall for the first time since February 5 to host Rhode Island, Ursinus and West Chester in a quad meet on Saturday, March 6. The Owls enter the meet undefeated at home with an 11-11 overall record. In the northeast region Temple (No. 8) outranks Rhode Island (No.10), Ursinus (No. 15) and West Chester (No. 20).

In order to defeat all three challengers, head coach Ken Anderson will look for solid and consistent performances throughout the lineup. Senior Paige Ozaroski, junior Alexis Zafferes and Erin Davis, and freshman Jillian Kornett and Sarah Liebowitz have emerged as top performers in individual events for the Owls this season.

Senior Paige Ozaroski has provided strong performances on bars and beam. Most recently, Ozaroski scored a career-high 9.90 on beam to place first in a quad meet hosted by Rutgers.

Vault specialist junior Alexis Zafferes has finished as Temple's top scorer on the apparatus in every meet this season. Temple's strong vault team including Zafferes, junior Katie Domenico, and sophomore Betsy Domenico broke the all time team vault score by posting a 48.450 on February 8 in a quad meet hosted by Penn.

In the latter portion of the season freshman Sarah Liebowitz has posted place-winning scores on bars. Liebowitz provided Temple's strongest performance and recorded a new personal best score on bars, by finishing third in the Rutgers quad meet with a 9.875 score.

Junior Erin Davis adds points to the Owl effort on both bars and beam, while Kornett contributes on beam and vault. Against top-ranked Auburn and New Hampshire in the Fox Run Invitational, Kornett posted a career-high 9.450 score on beam.

Rhode Island enters meet with a 3-7 record. In their last meeting the Owls outscored the the Rhodys 189.925 -- 189.375 in the Towson Invitational.

This season Temple defeated both Ursinus and West Chester at the Penn quad meet, where the Owls placed second behind Penn with a 192.725 score. Ursinus finished with a 186.225 score, while West Chester scored a 180.775.
