LIEBOWITZ BREAKS TEMPLE'S ALL-TIME UNEVEN BAR RECORD AS WOMEN'S GYMNASTICS EARNS QUAD MEET VICTORY
3.6.04 | Women's Gymnastics
With powerful routines on bars and beam, Liebowtiz broke a school record and two personal best scores. With a 9.90 score and first place finish on bars, Liebowtiz posted Temple's best all-time bar record, breaking Brynne Hillman's 9.875 record set at the USAG National Championships on April 18, 2003. The 9.90 scored shattered Liebowitz's former 8.90 career-high score. Liebowitz also took third on beam with a 9.725, posting a new personal best in the event.
Senior Jennifer Beaver and junior Alexis Zafferes each captured a first place finish for the Owls. Beaver presented a gracefully poised beam routine to score a meet-high 9.975. On vault Zafferes's powerful presence in the air coupled with a solid landing earned her a 9.750 score for the win.
On bars senior Paige Ozaroski and junior Erin Davis placed third (9.875) and fourth (9.825), respectively.
The Temple women's gymnastics team returns to McGonigle Hall on March 14, when they host Cornell at 2:00 p.m. The Owls will honor seniors Jennifer Beaver and Paige Ozaroski in a short ceremony preceding the meet.
