OWLS FINISH FOURTH AT PRINCETON GOLF INVITATIONAL

PRINCETON, NJ-The Temple University men's golf team shot a two-round, 23-over-par, 591 to finish fourth out of 22 universities at the Princeton Invitational, played at Springdale Golf Club, April 9-10. The Owls shot 294 Saturday after a 297 effort on Friday to finish eight strokes behind tournament champion Princeton (583). Towson and Georgetown placed second and third, respectively, with 587 and 590 scores.
Freshman Logan Terry paced Temple, shooting a three-over-par 145 (72-73) to finish tied for seventh on the par 71, 6,390-yard course. Junior Billy Mullen (T-17th, 73-75=148), junior Matt Roberts (T-21st, 76-73=149), senior James Chan (T-48th, 76-78=154) and junior Patrick O'Neill (T-71st, 84-73=157) comprised the rest of the Cherry & White scorecard.
Navy's Billy Hurley, who took a two-stroke lead into the second round thanks to a 68 on Friday, shot a 71 Saturday to finish at three-under-par 139 and win the tournament by three strokes over Princeton's Jason Gerken and William & Mary's Gary Barton, who each finished at even-par 142.
Temple was one of four Atlantic 10 Conference entries in the tournament. George Washington (5th; 292-302=594), Richmond (12th; 300-311=611) and Saint Joseph's (T-17th; 308-314=622) also competed in the Invitational. Philadelphia Big 5 rivals Penn (14th; 310-306=616) and Villanova (19th; 316-310=626) provided additional competition.
The Owls return to the links April 24-25 at the Scotty Duncan Memorial, played at Back Creek Country Club in Middletown, Del.
