PATRICK O'NEILL NAMED A-10 GOLF CO-PERFORMER OF THE WEEK

4.26.04 | Men's Golf

PHILADELPHIA-Temple junior Patrick O'Neill has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference Golf Co-Performer of the Week with George Washington's Brian Carroll. O'Neill carded a four-over par 146 (70-76) to pace the event champion Owls and captured the individual crown at the Scotty Duncan Memorial Golf Tournament in Middletown, Del., April 24-25.

The victory marked O'Neill's first career individual event title and sixth top 10 finish. He became the first Temple golfer to win an individual event crown since Jon Rusk captured the A-10 Conference title in Spring 2002. O'Neill has a 75.6 stroke average this spring after 10 rounds (five events).

Temple shot a two-round 602 (294-308) on the par 71, 7,003-yard Back Creek Country Club to win the Scotty Duncan by 12 strokes over host Delaware (297-317=614). The title marked Temple's first team tournament victory since winning the Golden Horseshoe Colonial Invitational in Spring 2000. The Owls, under the direction of third-year head coach Bill Mannino, have placed fourth or better in four of the five tournaments they have competed in this spring.
