TEMPLE GOLFERS IN THIRD PLACE AFTER ROUND ONE OF YALE SPRING OPEN

NEW HAVEN, CT-The Temple University men's golf team is in third place after a shooting a first round 301 on day one of the Yale Spring Open. The Owls trail first place Boston College (295) by six strokes and second place Hartford (298) by three strokes in the 22-team field.
The Open concludes tomorrow on the par 70, 6,749-yard Yale Golf Course that will also play host to the 2004 NCAA East Regional in mid-May.
Senior team captain James Chan paced the Cherry & White with a one-over par 71 to enter day two tied for third place with Hartford's David Markle. Chan trails Boston College's Sean McReynolds and Drexel's Joe April, who each carded even-par 70's on day one of the event.
Patrick O'Neill (T-15th, 76), Billy Mullen (T-24th, 77), Matt Roberts (T-24th, 77) and Logan Terry (T-35th, 78) comprised the rest of the Temple scorecard. 115 student-athletes are competing in the tournament.
