TEMPLE GOLF PLACES THIRD AT YALE SPRING OPEN

NEW HAVEN, CT-The Temple University men's golf team finished third out of 22 universities with a 32-over par 592 at the Yale Spring Open at the par 70, Yale University Golf Course, played April 3-4, 2004. The Owls' day two 291 was the second-best round of the tournament and left the team just two strokes behind event champion Drexel (590), which shot a tourney-best 288 on Sunday. Boston College placed second with a 591 effort.
Junior Billy Mullen provided Temple's top performance, carding a six-over par 146 (77-69) to place sixth and earn his fourth career top 10 finish. Senior James Chan and junior Patrick O'Neill also placed in the top 10, as each posted seven-over par 147's to finish tied for seventh place. Freshman Logan Terry (T-26, 153) and junior Matt Roberts (T-52, 158) comprised the rest of the Cherry & White scorecard.
Boston College's Sean McReynolds won the event with a two-under par 138.
115 student-athletes competed in the event on the course that will also play host to the NCAA East Regional in mid-May.
Temple returns to the links next weekend, April 9-10, at the Princeton Invitational at Springdale Golf Club.
